Brilliancy finds the brilliant moves in your chess games. Type any chess.com or Lichess username and a chess engine runs in your browser over your recent games, looking for the sound sacrifices. Results are independent estimates, not official Game Review labels. No account or login is needed; analysis runs locally after your browser retrieves public games.
What is a brilliant move in chess?
In chess annotation, !! marks an especially impressive move. Chess.com uses its own Brilliant classification for a good piece sacrifice that is best or nearly best. The position should not be bad afterward, and the player should not already be completely winning without it. Its criteria also take player strength into account. Brilliancy looks for sound sacrifices with its own detector, so its results can differ from Game Review.
How does Brilliancy find brilliant moves?
Enter a chess.com or Lichess username, load the public games, and start a scan. Brilliancy checks your moves for material sacrifices and uses Stockfish 16 in your browser to evaluate the candidates. A learned model combines engine signals to flag promising moves. Open a result to review the position and the reasons it was flagged. You can also analyse one supported game link.
Is Brilliancy the same as the brilliant move label on chess.com?
No. Brilliancy independently analyses games; it does not retrieve the official Brilliant labels from chess.com's Game Review. Its results are estimates, not a complete or exact record of your official brilliant moves. Brilliancy is not affiliated with or endorsed by chess.com or Lichess.
Is Brilliancy free, and does it need a login?
Brilliancy is free and needs no chess.com or Lichess login. Your browser requests public profiles and games from the platform you select, and may load chess.com avatar images. Stockfish analyses the games locally without uploading them to a Brilliancy analysis server. Public API availability and rate limits still apply. You can opt in to save completed analyses on this device and delete them at any time. Saved games are not uploaded or synced between devices.
